*En premier lieu la peinture. Ma musique est une composante de ma peinture (et de toute ma démarche artistique). Elle s'est développée petit à petit. J'essaie de construire un “lieu” – un espace - entre peinture, sculpture, installation, vidéo et musique, entre plusieurs mondes. Je veux placer le regardeur "à l'intérieur de la peinture" et,en même temps à l'intérieur d'un paysage imaginaire comme une sorte "de paysage mental".
Ces sons complétent mes réalisations et ajoutent une atmosphère dans et autour de mes peintures. Avec le temps, ils sont devenus autonomes et pouvaient exister sans peinture, image ou objet.
Ainsi le projet "nobodisoundz" est né en 2008. Dans mon esprit, mon imagination, ce nom renvoie au personnage "Nobody" du film Dead Man de Jim Jarmusch (2007).
J'aime cette référence parce que ce personnage est particulier et étrange : il déclame des vers de William Blake dans un paysage naturel, vide, plein de solitude, entre la vie et la mort, la lumière et l'obscurité, entre deux mondes. Cette figure m'apparaît comme "un passeur" (comme Charon dans la Mythologie grecque), un lien entre des mondes différents et des civilisations différentes, la nature et la culture. "Personne" (= Nobody) est aussi le nom utilisé par Ulysse dans l'Illiade (Homere, 850-750 av. J.-C) quand il revient chez lui : une autre histoire, une autre image.
Pour compléter "le tableau", il m’est nécessaire d'admettre la fascination que j'ai pour le film Stalker (Andreï Tarkovsky, 1979) : le paysage, l’espace, le silence, la "pièce secrète vide", l'opposition entre nature et culture, l'aspect sauvage et les décombres industriels, le chaos et la bande sonore sombre.
Mes “soundscapes” (“paysages sonores”) essaient de créer des atmosphères intenses et calmes, sombres et lumineuses à la fois.
*First there is painting. My music is a part of my painting (and of all my visual art). It developed progressively. I try to build something between the painting, the sculpture, the installation, the video and the music, between several worlds. I want to place the viewer “inside the painting”, and at the same time, inside an imaginary landscape as a kind of "mental-scape".
These sounds completed my works and added an atmosphere within and around my paintings. With time it became self-sufficient and could exist without pictorial or physical medium.
Thus the project “nobodisoundz” was born in 2008. In my head, my mind, my imagination the name came from the character of “Nobody “ in the Jim Jarmusch movie Dead Man (2007). I like this reference because this character is so peculiar and so singular, declaiming poetry by William Blake in a natural, empty landscape, it is so full of solitude, between life and death, light and darkness, between two worlds. This figure appears to me as an « usher » (as Charon in the Greek Mythology), a link between different worlds and different civilisations, nature and culture. "Nobody" is also the name used by Ulysses in "the Illiade" (Homere, 850-750 BC) when he comes back home : another story, another picture.
To complete the « picture », it is necessary for me to admit the fascination I had with the movie Stalker (Andreï Tarkovsky, 1979) : because of its landscape, its space, its silence, its « empty secret room », the opposition between nature and culture, the wildness and the industrial rubble, the chaos and the dark and gloomy soundtrack.
My soundscape tries to create both tense and quiet, dark and bright atmospheres.
